back when frank and i were in belovo, our host family took us to visit nati’s parents in vinogradets for the day. vino gradetz is a small village not far from belovo. before we left nati, stoyan, and frank all warned me that it was miserable there and not as nice as their place in belovo. as you may have guessed, i was a bit nervous to on the drive there.

however, i did not find vinogradets to be miserable at all! nati’s parents live in a nice house with a large, beautiful garden. we had a pleasant day sitting out on the “barbeque” (that’s what they call the patio) talking, eating, and drinking with nati’s parents, nati’s sister and her family, nati, stoyan, and maltina.

nati’s parents were generous and kind hosts. they let us wander their gardens, take pictures of their animals, and even showed us off to their neighbors. (apparently it’s very exciting to have americans over for lunch. later we were told that nati’s dad will be bragging for at least a week afterward.) nati’s mom was even nice enough to give us one of her homemade sheepskin rugs (frank lovingly calls it the dead animal and wonders if it will get through us customs) and a pair of knit wool socks.

  1. From a professional: the rug should make it in. Question: Did it?
